With both my parents having worked as nurses, it was an honour to illustrate the cover of the September issue of Midwives.

This special issue is an opportunity to focus on the pressing issues regarding black women using and working within the maternity services. Black women are five times more likely to die during pregnancy/childbirth, there is also a push by many to decolonise the maternity services, and break down the barriers to career progression that still exists.
