Beyond Boundaries, Tate Modern

I was one of five mentors to mentor five emerging artists. Zeinab Saleh, Megan Visser, Koby Martin, Hannah Hill, Blkmoodyboi. The five artists were tasked with creating large-scale outdoor artworks around the Bankside neighbourhood to help the public reconnect with art, galleries and each other.

Each young creative was invited by Tate Collective and Better Bankside to produce a new commission that responds to lockdown, the easing of restrictions and the chance to see people again.

Myself, Julia Vogl,Victor Ehikhamenor, Lesley Asare and Sharon Walters were each paired with one of the young artists, to help guide them through the project, discuss their work and offer advice on the industry.

It has been such a pleasure to get to know and work with such a passionate, conscientious and supportive group of people. For me mentoring isn’t a one way street, and this project has  been inspiring and such a fantastic learning experience.
